Meanwhile, the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK), an association of theatre owners, expressed their protest against the premature OTT release of the movie '2018'. FEUOK also organised a two-day strike, leading to the closure of theatres in Kerala. This protest was initiated due to the alleged violation of the agreement between producers and theatre owners regarding the OTT release of '2018'.
The original agreement between theatre owners and producers stated that OTT releases should only occur 42 days after the theatrical release. However, theatre owners claim that the producer of '2018' has disregarded this agreement.
