2018 Movie: Tovino's Film Won't Cross Rs 200 Crore Collection Worldwide, Here's Why

Tovinos Film Wont Cross Rs 200 Crore Collection Worldwide

Tovino's Film Won't Cross Rs 200 Crore Worldwide Collection: Jude Anthany Joseph's survival drama has done the almost-impossible in the ever-evolving and pleasantly surprising Malayalam film industry.

The movie surpassed the collections of Mohanlal's Pulimurugan, which held the title of the highest-grossing Malayalam movie ever.

The film has not only broken numerous collection records but has also achieved a milestone coveted by every producer, director, and star. Despite minimal pre-release publicity, this film has emerged as a box office sensation in Malayalam cinema.

Making history in the Malayalam film industry, it has become the first-ever Malayalam film to enter the esteemed 150 crore club. Adding to its remarkable triumph, the film has amassed an astonishing 160 crore at the worldwide box office, solidifying its phenomenal success.

Here's Why 2018 Movie Won't Cross Rs 200 Crore Collection Worldwide

But even though the film has become a huge hit, fans have been disappointed since yesterday. This disappointment is because of the assumption that the Tovino Thomas film will not cross its global collection of Rs. 200 crore. Yesterday's news announcing the film's OTT release date prompted them to come to this assumption.

The record-breaking blockbuster of Malayalam cinema, 2018, will soon be streaming on SonyLIV starting June 7. While the film continues its successful run in theatres, the decision to release it on a streaming platform has garnered mixed reactions. While it brings joy to those who couldn't watch it in theatres, loyal fans of 2018 express a tinge of disappointment regarding its OTT release.

Fans argue that the film's early OTT release is premature and should have been delayed. They expressed a desire for the movie to achieve a maximum gross of 100 crore from Kerala. However, with its early OTT release, it is anticipated that the maximum gross collection from Kerala will reach only 90 crore.

In addition to that, the film's Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions hit the screens last week. The Telugu version, in particular, is garnering positive feedback. However, with the upcoming OTT release, fans speculate that those who initially planned to watch the film in theaters may now opt for the OTT platform instead.
