Actor Nikhila Vimal Sparks Controversy Again; Earlier, Remark On Cow Offended Netizens, Now Malabar Wedding

Nikhila Vimal is one of the actresses who openly expresses her views on many issues. Kannur native Nikhila's words about Muslim weddings in her native place are now being discussed on social media, and Nikhila is also being attacked in cyberspace.
Nikhila Vimal was talking about weddings in her native place, Kannur, during an interview related to the promotion of her new film, ''Ayalvaashi'. The film is directed by debutant Irshad Perari. The film tells the story in the comedy genre and stars Soubin Shahir, Binu Pappu, Nikhila Vimal, and Lijo Mol in lead roles.
Nikhila was responding to a query about weddings from an earlier time in the Malabar region. Social media users who found Nikhila's remark offensive have criticised her for it. Nikhila said that in Kannur, there is a tendency in Muslim weddings to serve food to women separately in the kitchen area, and there is not much difference even now.
"When you talk about a local wedding, the first thing that comes to mind is rice and fish curry from the day before. I have been to Muslim weddings while studying in college. In all Muslim weddings in Kannur, women are allowed to eat only in the kitchen area. Still, not much has changed. All males have food in the front area. After marriage, the bridegroom stays in the bride's house. They are called Puthyapla. They will be Puthyapla till they die." Nikhila said
There are also people who are supporting Nikhila Vimal for her remarks criticising the traditional practises in weddings. They say that instead of examining the merits of criticism and correcting them if necessary, cyber-lynching the critic is not democratic, and in any case, it is not good to approach healthy criticism with intolerance.
Nikhila, who began as a child actor and made her acting debut as a female protagonist in Love 24x7' in 2015, was outspoken about her views before as well. Nikhila claimed in an interview in May 2022 that cows don't require any special consideration. She had stated, "You either slaughter all animals or don't slaughter at all," adding that if animal welfare was the real concern, then no animal should be slaughtered. She had previously been outspoken about her political views and supported the Left in an election.
