Actor Vinayakan Faces Severe Backlash For Insulting Late Former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy; Effigy Burned

Vinayakan Insults Late Oommen Chandy; Faces Backlash

Fiery Protest Against Vinayakan's Insulting Remarks: In a highly charged act of protest, Bindu Chandran V., a Mahila Congress activist, publicly burned the picture of actor Vinayakan for his insulting remarks against the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on social media.

Defiant in her stance, Bindu Chandran stated that she is unafraid of any legal repercussions and is prepared to face imprisonment for her actions in burning Vinayakan's picture. She questioned Vinayakan's disrespectful comments made against someone like Oommen Chandy, who, according to her, had not harmed anyone.

The fiery demonstration was documented on social media, as Bindu shared a video of herself burning Vinayakan's effigy to express her discontent.

The controversy erupted when actor Vinayakan made abusive remarks against the late Oommen Chandy, who passed away on July 18th. During a Facebook Live session, Vinayakan questioned the public holiday and mourning for the former Chief Minister, triggering widespread protests. Subsequently, the actor took down the post in response to the uproar.

"Who is this Oommen Chandy? Why a public holiday for three days? I am asking the media to stop and go. My father died, and your father also died. What should we do about it? Even if you think Oommen Chandy is good, I don't think so. If we look at Karunakaran's case, don't we all know who he was?" said Vinayakan in his Facebook Live.

Actor Aneesh And Director Akhil Marar Join The Backlash Against Vinayakan

Meanwhile, Actor Aneesh raised his voice against Vinayakan, stating, "We both belong to the same industry, but it is evident that I don't hold the same level of influence with the audience as you do. Similarly, it is also a fact that former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is held in much higher regard than you in the minds of the people." Aneesh conveyed this message in a Facebook note.

Bigg Boss season 5 winner and director Akhil Marar also expressed his criticism of Vinayakan. He urged, "Let's remember to be human beings. Let's be human beings. I have long disregarded Vinayakan. This serves as a reminder," as conveyed in his Facebook post.

Amid mounting public outrage, the Youth Congress has filed multiple complaints with the DGP and Kochi City Police Commissioner, urging action against actor Vinayakan. The complaints allege that a video circulating on social media insulted the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Soni Pananthanam, a Youth Congress activist, lodged a complaint with the Kochi ACP.

In addition, Ernakulam DCC General Secretary Ajith Ameer Bawa also filed a complaint with the police. Satish, the district general secretary of the Youth Congress, submitted another complaint to the DGP.

Ajith Amir Bawa has made a serious allegation, claiming that Vinayakan leads the drug mafia in the film sector, as stated in the complaint filed with the Kochi Assistant Commissioner of Police. The complaint further insists on investigating Vinayakan's alleged drug-mafia connections.

The incident has sparked a storm of controversy, drawing attention from the public, media, and political circles.
