Dileep Dealt Setback As High Court Rejects Plea To Adjourn Hearing In Memory Card Leak Case

Dileeps Plea Rejected By High Court In Memory Card Case

Dileep's Plea Rejected By High Court In Memory Card Case: In a significant legal development, the Kerala High Court has dismissed actor Dileep's plea to adjourn the hearing for the petition filed by the actress in the memory card leak case connected to the assault she endured and its recorded footage. The High Court has also deferred its ruling on the actress's petition.

The court has further appointed Adv. Renjith Marar as amicus curiae to provide assistance in the legal matter raised by the actress concerning the memory card leakage.

Dileep's request for an adjournment of the hearing was grounded in his assertion that the actress's petition aimed to obstruct the judge's announcement of the verdict in the case.

Actress Demands Inquiry

In contrast, the actress argued that the court bears the responsibility of safeguarding her fundamental rights as a victim. She demanded a comprehensive investigation into the incident and the identification of the individuals responsible for the memory card leak. This appeal garnered support from the state government as well. Consequently, the court has postponed its decision on this particular petition.

Dileep has alleged that the actress's petition serves other ulterior motives. Highlighting the compilation of statements from over 250 witnesses, he contended that the prosecution seeks to impede the judgement of the presiding judge who has heard these statements. Dileep also questioned the characterization of the memory card leakage, asserting the existence of evidence to counter this claim. He suggested that those matters be brought up during the trial. The examination of witnesses by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is still pending. The contention is that these aspects will come to light during that phase, and if disclosed prematurely, they could impact the ongoing trial. Dileep has additionally shown his readiness to confidentially present his arguments to the court, outlining reasons for requesting an adjournment, in a sealed envelope.

This is not the first time Dileep has raised concerns. In a previous instance, he pointed out that the prosecution's alleged attempts to prolong the trial in the actress assault case had caused significant distress in his life. He accused the prosecution of collaborating in the pursuit of prolonging the trial by instigating an investigation into the memory card issue, which is connected to the recorded assault.

On the other end, the actress contends that an illicit attempt was made to tamper with vital evidence when the memory card was improperly accessed while under the court's custody. She asserts that the culprits inserted the memory card into a mobile device linked to social media accounts, demanding a scientifically rigorous investigation. Seeking the court's intervention, the actress, as the complainant, has implored for an inquiry supervised by the court.

This ongoing legal dispute has brought to the forefront complex issues related to evidence integrity, victim protection, and the integrity of legal proceedings. The High Court's decisions will have far-reaching implications for the pursuit of justice and the resolution of this high-profile case.
