Santhakumari Talks About How Dileep Found Her: Veteran actress Santhakumari revealed that no one calls her from the Malayalam film industry, saying that she is in bed after heart surgery. Santhakumari spoke openly about this in an interview given to Manorama Online. Santhakumari also said that she lived for 13 years eating food delivered by production controllers.
"A rumour has circulated that I have undergone heart surgery. So, no one calls me now. I didn't know. I was at home for five years without work. Not a single person calls. No income. Many production controllers will bring food. I was in a hostel for 13 years. For these 13 years, food was delivered to me by each of them. I was in Ernakulam. Dileep found me. That's how I got a home. It's okay now." Santhakumari said.
Actress Pauly Valsan also openly said that fake news has circulated about her. "When I did the movie Dakini, I burned my leg from the silencer of my bike. The doctor said that it would take two months to heal. In the meantime, I got the award. I went to collect the award by travelling on the train. I sat in the train, stretching my leg. I got the award, came back, and was again admitted to the hospital."
"After that, no one called me for work. days gone, and one day I came to know that some movie programme was going on at Lulu Mall. I went there with my son. There were many production controllers there. As part of that event, I went on stage and said, 'My friends, I am not sick. Burned a leg. It is now healed. Please don't hesitate to call me to work, thinking that I am bedridden.' I myself intervened and corrected." Pauly Valsan said
'No Roles For Veteran Actors In Cinema'
Pauly Valsan said that although she has played many roles as a mother, there has been less work for some time. "Nowadays, there is less work. No one wants mothers. What are they, test tube babies? We haven't made a single film in three months. No one wants us! In the past, many films were written for mothers. There are no 'mothers' today."
"Even though the role in the movie 'Appan' was appreciated, no such offers are coming. I get only small roles. Couldn't play a good role. I have played many good roles in drama. Now in cinema, the situation is that you will have to beg for good roles. I don't call anyone for opportunities, though."
"If we have a role, they will call us. They can't call us without a suitable role. Not every movie has a role for us. Let there be characters. Now there is this 'hundred crore' movie (2018 movie) as a calling card!" Pauly Valsan added
Omana Ouseph also shared a similar experience. "Films are very few. I have done a lot of films before. Now I am really sad. There are no mother and father characters in the current films. Hero, heroine, and a few friends-the casting of the film is done. Those who do father and mother characters have no work," Omana said.
