Kochi
City
Police
Commissioner
K.
Sethu
Raman
Vows
Investigation
Into
Film
Industry
Drug
Use:
In
response
to
concerns
raised
by
FEFKA
General
Secretary
B.
Unnikrishnan
regarding
the
surveillance
of
film
shooting
locations,
City
Police
Commissioner
K.
Sethu
Raman
has
affirmed
that
the
police
will
persist
in
their
investigation
into
drug
use
on
film
sets.
The
Commissioner
assured
that
measures
have
been
taken
to
prevent
work
disruptions,
including
the
deployment
of
shadow
police
personnel.
Addressing
the
issue,
Commissioner
Sethu
Raman
stated
that
if
B.
Unnikrishnan
encountered
any
difficulties,
he
would
personally
look
into
the
matter.
The
Commissioner's
statement
to
Mathrubhumi
News
comes
following
Unnikrishnan's
criticism
of
surveillance
practises
during
a
press
conference
held
in
response
to
the
excise
inspection
conducted
in
director
Najeem
Koya's
hotel
room.
During
the
press
conference,
Unnikrishnan
expressed
his
concern
over
recent
discussions
surrounding
the
film
industry,
emphasising
that
it
is
unfortunate
to
generalise
and
perceive
all
young
individuals
as
drug
addicts.
Notably,
he
highlighted
that
the
raid
conducted
by
the
excise
officials
targeted
a
writer
and
director
rather
than
solely
focusing
on
actors.
Unnikrishnan
clarified
that
their
intention
is
not
to
carry
out
raids
on
all
actors
indiscriminately.
The
incident
has
garnered
strong
opposition
from
all
filmmakers
belonging
to
the
20
unions
of
FEFKA,
who
are
demanding
a
thorough
investigation.
Unnikrishnan
affirmed
their
unwavering
commitment
to
expose
the
individual
responsible
for
attempting
to
entrap
Najeem
Koya,
asserting
their
support
for
Koya
throughout
the
entire
process.
The
director
also
raised
questions
regarding
the
Excise
Department's
response
to
actor
Tini
Tom's
shocking
revelations
about
drug
abuse
within
the
film
industry.
Unnikrishnan
pointed
out
that
Tini
Tom
holds
the
esteemed
position
of
brand
ambassador
for
the
Excise
Department,
emphasising
the
importance
of
the
department's
involvement
in
taking
his
statement.
"Why
hasn't
this
agency
summoned
Tini
Tom
yet?
If
the
officials
were
willing
to
travel
all
the
way
from
Thiruvananthapuram
to
Erattupetta
for
the
raid
on
Najeem
Koya,
why
haven't
they
obtained
Tini
Tom's
statement?"
questioned
Unnikrishnan.
He
highlighted
Tini
Tom's
revelation
that
an
actor's
dental
health
had
deteriorated
due
to
drug
abuse,
urging
the
Excise
Department
to
inquire
about
the
identity
of
this
individual.
Unnikrishnan
stressed
that,
as
the
brand
ambassador
of
the
Excise
Department,
Tini
Tom
should
be
the
first
person
to
provide
information
on
this
matter.
He
called
for
action
to
be
taken
and
demanded
accountability
when
statements
were
made.
Tini
Tom's
Shocking
Revelations
Tini
Tom
made
these
concerning
remarks
during
his
participation
in
the
inaugural
function
of
the
Kerala
University
Union
Youth
Festival
held
in
Ambalappuzha
last
month.
Expressing
his
own
fear
and
concern
for
his
only
son,
Tini
Tom
disclosed
that
he
prevented
his
son
from
entering
the
film
industry
due
to
these
apprehensions.
He
also
revealed
that
an
actor
he
had
worked
with
had
succumbed
to
drug
addiction,
resulting
in
severe
dental
issues.
Notably,
Tini
Tom
is
also
responsible
for
overseeing
the
operations
of
AMMA
(the
Association
of
Malayalam
Movie
Artists).
