Director Lokesh Kanagaraj Injured During 'Leo' Promotion Tour In Kerala

Lokesh Kanagaraj Injured During Leo Promotion: In an unfortunate turn of events, director Lokesh Kanakaraj, the creative talent behind the action-packed Tamil thriller "Leo," has suffered an injury during the film's promotional tour in Kerala.
Thousands of eager fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the celebrated director, who visited the Palakkad Aroma Theatre as part of the film's ongoing promotional spree.
Despite Gokulam Movies' comprehensive security arrangements, the theatre was engulfed by an unending stream of enthusiastic fans, leading to a frenzy that resulted in Lokesh Kanakaraj injuring his leg.
In a bid to maintain order, the police had to intervene, brandishing their lathis to control the surging crowd. As a result of his injury, Lokesh had to cancel the remaining events scheduled for the day, including theatre visits to Thrissur Ragam Theatre and Kochi Kavitha Theater. Additionally, the press meet originally planned for Kochi today has been postponed to a later date.
"Leo," the Tamil-language action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj and starring the iconic Thalapathy Vijay, hit theatres worldwide on October 19. With this film, Lokesh has masterfully orchestrated an ensemble cast, featuring Vijay in the titular role, along with esteemed talents such as Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Arjun, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Priya Anand.
Conflicting Reports Cast Doubt On 'Leo's' Box Office Triumph
According to various film trade trackers, 'Leo' has set a remarkable milestone in its overseas performance, securing the title of the "All-Time Second Best Opening for a South Indian Film." This accolade places "Leo" in an elite league, with its opening weekend overseas collections trailing only behind the monumental success of "Baahubali 2."
However, amidst the celebratory air, conflicting reports have emerged, raising questions about the veracity of these overseas collections. According to the film industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan, who goes by the handle X, there is a discrepancy in the numbers. Vijayabalan contends that the film "Leo" did not achieve the overseas records attributed to it, refuting claims that it outperformed other major releases like "RRR," "KGF Chapter 2," "2.0," "Jawan," and "Pathaan" during its first weekend abroad.
Adding to the intrigue surrounding "Leo," there were reports that the film had earned a historic spot on the Global Comscore website, establishing it as the first Tamil movie to attain such recognition. Furthermore, it was initially stated that the film had amassed a staggering global box office collection of ₹400 crores, equivalent to $48.5 million, within just four days of its release. However, as discussions heated up on social media, the hashtag #LeoScam began trending on Twitter, with numerous users expressing scepticism about the accuracy of the Box Office reports, including the claimed ₹400 crore global earnings for "Leo." The controversy has left both fans and industry insiders curious and eager for a resolution to the conflicting narratives.
