Film Producer P V Gangadharan Passed Away: Prominent film producer and AICC member P.V. Gangadharan, who also served as the whole-time director at Mathrubhumi, breathed his last on Friday at 6:30 a.m. in a private hospital located in Kozhikode.
At the time of his passing, he was 80 years old, and he had been receiving medical treatment for over a week due to health issues related to his age.
The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday evening. He leaves behind his wife, PV Sherien, and is survived by his children, Shenuga Jaythilak, Shegna Vigil, and Sherga Sandeep.
PV Gangadharan, affectionately referred to as PVG, was a distinguished figure in the fields of film, politics, and business. He ran as a candidate in the 2011 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, representing Kozhikode North, and remained an engaged member of the KPCC.
PV Gangadharan was born in 1943 to Madhavi Sami and PV Sami, a prominent entrepreneur who founded the KTC Group of Companies. He was the younger sibling of PV Chandran, who served as the managing editor of Mathrubhumi.
A Legacy Of Iconic Films: PV Gangadharan's Enduring Impact
Operating under the banner of Grihalakshmi Films, PV Gangadharan, known as PVG, created iconic films that launched many well-established actors and directors to stardom. His journey into the film industry commenced in 1977, when he produced the movie "Sujatha." Following this, Grihalakshmi Productions went on to craft numerous unforgettable films, including "Manasa Vacha Karmana," "Angadi," "Ahimsa," "Chiriyo Chiri," "Kattathe Kilikkoodu," "Vartha," "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha," "Adhwaytham," and "Ekalavyan.
The movie "Angadi," featuring the renowned Jayan and directed by IV Sasi, continues to be an iconic action film in Malayalam cinema. "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha" stands as one of the timeless classics of Mollywood.
Kanakkinaav, produced by Grihalakshmi Films, was honored with the prestigious Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration in 1997. In 2000, the film "Santham" received the National Award for Best Film. Additionally, movies such as "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha," "Kanakkinavu," "Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal," "Achuvinte Amma," and "Notebook" were also recognised with state film awards. PV Gangadharan's final film venture was "Janaki Jaane," released in 2023, created in collaboration with S Cube.
