Kaathal - The Core Kerala Box Office Collection: 'Kaathal - The Core' is a Malayalam drama film helmed by Jeo Baby, with the screenplay penned by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria. It is a production by Mammootty Kampany and features Mammootty and Jyothika in lead roles. 'Kaathal - The Core' was released in theatres on November 23, 2023.

During August 2022, there were rumours about Jeo Baby directing a film featuring Mammootty and Jyothika in the lead roles, which he initially denied. Yet, by late September, Baby confirmed his involvement in directing Mammootty for a MammoottyKampany-produced film, revealing that pre-production had commenced.

The commencement of principal photography took place on October 20, 2022, in Kochi, marked by a traditional pooja ceremony. Jyothika joined the set a week later, on October 27. Mammootty finished filming his parts by November 18, while Jyothika's scenes concluded on November 20. The entire filming process was completed in just 34 days, wrapping up on November 22.

The film's significance is heightened by Mammootty's intense performance and actress Jyothika's return to Malayalam cinema after a 13-year hiatus. Notably, this marks their first collaboration. The song "Ennum En Kaaval," featuring lyrics by poet Anwar Ali, composed by Mathews Pulickan, and sung by G. Venugopal and K.S. Chitra, has already captivated music enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, the Gulf region witnessed a prohibition on the screening of the highly anticipated Mammootty starrer 'Kaathal - The Core,' directed by Jeo Baby, before its release. Initially banned in Qatar and Kuwait, Saudi Arabia also denied permission through its Censor Board. The ban was imposed, emphasising the film's subject as the reason.

As per film industry tracker AB George, 'Kaathal - The Core' made a significant mark at the Kerala box office within its first four days of release, accumulating a gross collection of 5.33 crores. Surpassing all anticipated figures, the film showcased a commendable performance over its debut weekend, earning applause from audiences and critics alike. The movie garnered 1.05 crores on its opening day, followed by 1.18 crores on the second day, escalating to 1.45 crores on the third day, and finally reaching 1.65 crores on its fourth day, demonstrating an upward trend in its box office performance.
