Samantha Raves 'Kaathal - The Core' - The Movie of the Year!: Actress Samantha Ruth showered praise on the film 'Kaathal - The Core,' featuring Mammootty and Jyothika. In her Instagram story, she hailed it as the "movie of the year," urging everyone to witness this beautiful and potent cinematic treasure.
Samantha lauded Mammootty's exceptional performance, deeming him her hero, and expressed enduring admiration for Jyothika. She hailed director Jeo Baby as legendary, indicating the profound impact of the film.
"Kaathal is movie of the year. Do yourself a favour and watch this beautiful yet powerful gem of a film. Mammootty sir you are my hero. I will not be able to get over this performance for a long time. Jyothika Love you. Jeo Baby Legendary," she wrote.
Not just from the Malayalam industry but also from Tamil, numerous individuals are praising the film. Many are surprised by the courage displayed by a megastar like Mammootty in portraying a character different from his usual roles. 'Kaathal' and the role in it are also being highlighted as one of the best in Jyothika's career.
'Kaathal - The Core' Journey & Impact
'Kaathal - The Core' is a Malayalam drama film helmed by Jeo Baby, with the screenplay penned by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria. It is a production by Mammootty Kampany and features Mammootty and Jyothika in lead roles. 'Kaathal - The Core' was released in theatres on November 23, 2023.
The movie was showcased at IFFI in Goa and is scheduled for a screening at the International Film Festival of Kerala, running from December 8 to 15, as part of the Malayalam Cinema Today section.
During August 2022, there were rumours about Jeo Baby directing a film featuring Mammootty and Jyothika in the lead roles, which he initially denied. Yet, by late September, Baby confirmed his involvement in directing Mammootty for a MammoottyKampany-produced film, revealing that pre-production had commenced.
The commencement of principal photography took place on October 20, 2022, in Kochi, marked by a traditional pooja ceremony. Jyothika joined the set a week later, on October 27. Mammootty finished filming his parts by November 18, while Jyothika's scenes concluded on November 20. The entire filming process was completed in just 34 days, wrapping up on November 22.
The film's significance is heightened by Mammootty's intense performance and actress Jyothika's return to Malayalam cinema after a 13-year hiatus. Notably, this marks their first collaboration. The song "Ennum En Kaaval," featuring lyrics by poet Anwar Ali, composed by Mathews Pulickan, and sung by G. Venugopal and K.S. Chitra, has already captivated music enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, the Gulf region witnessed a prohibition on the screening of the highly anticipated Mammootty starrer 'Kaathal - The Core,' directed by Jeo Baby, before its release. Initially banned in Qatar and Kuwait, Saudi Arabia also denied permission through its Censor Board. The ban was imposed, emphasising the film's subject as the reason.

Written by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria, the film is produced by Mammootty under Mammootty Kampany, with Salu K. Thomas managing cinematography and Francies Louis overseeing editing. Distribution is handled by Wayfarer Films.
