Anand TV Film Awards 2023: Mammootty pleasantly surprised Joju George at the Anand TV Film Awards 2023, fulfilling his wish to receive the award in Mammootty's presence.
Despite not being on stage when Tovino Thomas initially presented Joju with the award, Mammootty later entered the stage, stunning Joju and the audience.
As Mammootty unexpectedly appeared, Joju's words stumbled out of sheer emotion. In a lighthearted moment, Mammootty playfully tried to uplift him by saying, "Are you feeling shy in my presence?"
Being emotional, Joju expressed his gratitude towards Mammootty, highlighting the significant influence the legendary actor had on his life.
Joju's heartfelt words about Mammootty were as follows:
"Suraj Venjaramoodu and Tovino are the biggest lucky winners of today. They received the award at the hands of Ikka (Mammootty), our superstar since childhood. I also wanted him to be present here while I received the award. There are many reasons for that. The first time I spoke dialogue was in 1999, in Mammookka's film. After that, many said, 'If you act, it won't work, and you won't keep up.' In 2010, I received appreciation, saying, 'You're Good' in the movie Best Actor, which was also a Mammookka film."
"After that, I acted in the movie 'Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum.' It had been one of the biggest roles in my life until then. The film was released in 2013. After that, I didn't get any film for a year. Many said, 'Don't call him for small roles; he played big roles.' So after a gap of one year, I got a film, 'RajadhiRaja,' and it was like winning a lottery for me."
"I went to act in that movie. At a house in Pollachi where the shoot was taking place, the first day's pooja was happening. I was standing aside while lighting the lamp for the pooja. Then Mammookka said, 'Call him.' Then he handed it over to me to light the lamp. I lit the lamp while holding my face down because, at that time, I was crying."
"After that, someone who came with me overheard an assistant director of that film talking about me. 'Can you make him play such a big role? If he doesn't act well, he will be sent back.' Hearing this, my friend came and told me, 'If you don't act properly today, you will be fired. So you have to do well.' I got nervous after hearing this. My problem is that if I am fired from here today, I will have that shame for the rest of my life. Also, I am going to act with Mammookka."
"So the shooting started. The first shot was with Mammookka. My dialogue delivery went wrong four times. I thought I was fired. I looked around, and everyone was thinking, 'Will he be able to do this?' At that time, Mammookka called me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, 'Why don't you stretch that dialogue and deliver it? Why are you so afraid?'"
"Mammookka was standing next to me. I couldn't say the dialogue the way he asked. Then he showed me how to deliver that dialogue. I said that dialogue. He took me to the shoot, saying, 'That's all; you did it.' Mammookka may not remember this. There will be many people like me. But that was the biggest lesson of my life. I have never had the opportunity to share a stage with him like this until today. This is a big day," Joju George said.
