YouTubers:
Yesterday,
the
Income
Tax
Department
initiated
unannounced
inspections
at
the
homes
and
workplaces
of
well-known
YouTubers
in
Kerala.
According
to
reports,
13
prominent
YouTubers,
including
actress
and
presenter
Pearle
Maaney,
underwent
scrutiny
by
the
income
tax
authorities.
The
raids
were
allegedly
conducted
in
response
to
a
complaint
concerning
tax
evasion.
The
raid
commenced
yesterday
morning,
and
the
inspections
were
carried
out
at
various
locations.
Preliminary
findings
by
the
income
tax
department
reveal
that
several
prominent
YouTubers
in
Kerala
are
generating
annual
incomes
ranging
from
Rs
1
crore
to
Rs
2
crore.
However,
suspicions
have
arisen
that
appropriate
taxes
are
not
being
paid
in
accordance
with
these
earnings.
The
investigation
primarily
focuses
on
scrutinising
the
financial
transaction
records
of
these
YouTubers
in
relation
to
potential
tax
evasion.
The
IT
Enforcement
Wing,
based
in
Kochi,
coordinated
the
raid,
as
per
reports.
Numerous
YouTubers
in
the
state
are
earning
substantial
incomes,
and
the
preliminary
inquiry
has
revealed
that
they
have
not
been
paying
taxes
commensurate
with
their
earnings.
Suspicions
arise
regarding
the
paid
promotional
content
produced
by
these
content
creators.
Additionally,
some
YouTubers
have
made
undisclosed
investments
that
were
not
included
in
their
tax
declarations.
The
IT
team
thoroughly
examined
bank
statements
and
transaction
details
related
to
the
revenue
generated
by
these
YouTubers.
Raids
were
conducted
in
various
locations,
including
Ernakulam,
Pathanamthitta,
Thrissur,
Alappuzha,
Kottayam,
and
Kasargod,
as
mentioned
in
the
report.
Before
initiating
the
raid,
the
IT
department
conducted
a
preliminary
investigation.
Sources
reveal
that
additional
raids
targeting
more
YouTubers
in
the
state
are
scheduled
to
take
place
in
the
coming
days.
