Prasanth Narayanan Passed Away: Esteemed theatre director and actor Prashanth Narayanan, aged 51, passed away earlier today at Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital after being admitted due to a sudden illness.
Prashanth Narayanan, known for his profound contributions to the theatrical landscape, staged renowned productions like "Chayamukhi" and "Mahasagaram," among others, and directed plays such as "Makara Dhwajan" and "Mani Karnika." His artistic prowess garnered numerous accolades, notably the Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award, acknowledging his outstanding achievements.
Narayanan, a prolific figure in Indian theatre, leaves behind an enduring legacy, having authored approximately thirty plays and beginning his foray into playwriting at the young age of fifteen. His multifaceted talents extended beyond playwriting and direction to acting, journalism, teaching, and more, with a repertoire of over sixty directorial endeavours.
Notably, "Chayamukhi," a Sanskrit play interweaving contemporary themes with characters from the Mahabharata, featured illustrious actors Mohanlal and Mukesh in leading roles during its 2008 staging. Narayanan's indelible mark on theatre and his multifaceted contributions will continue to resonate within the theatrical community and beyond.
