Vinayakan Faces Police Case For Insulting Late Oommen Chandy

Vinayakan Faces Police Case For Insulting Late Oommen Chandy: Ernakulam North Police have registered a case against actor Vinayakan following a complaint filed by Youth Congress activists, alleging that he insulted former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy through a video circulated on social media.

Youth Congress activist Soni Pananthanam filed the complaint with the Kochi ACP, while Ernakulam DCC General Secretary Ajith Ameer Bawa also lodged a police complaint against Vinayakan. Satish, the district general secretary of the Youth Congress, filed a complaint with the DGP.

In a serious allegation, Ajith Amir Bawa claimed in his complaint with the Kochi Assistant Commissioner of Police that Vinayakan is the head of the drug mafia in the film sector and urged an investigation into his alleged drug-mafia connections.

The controversy erupted when actor Vinayakan made abusive remarks against the late Oommen Chandy, who passed away on July 18th. During a Facebook Live session, Vinayakan questioned the public holiday and mourning for the former Chief Minister, triggering widespread protests.

"Who is this Oommen Chandy? Why a public holiday for three days? I am asking the media to stop and go. My father died, and your father also died. What should we do about it? Even if you think Oommen Chandy is good, I don't think so. If we look at Karunakaran's case, don't we all know who he was?" said Vinayakan in his Facebook Live.

Subsequently, The actor pulled the post after the video became a big discussion on social media. However, by then, the video had been widely shared on social media and had drawn severe criticism.

Actor Aneesh And Director Akhil Marar Join The Backlash Against Vinayakan

Meanwhile, Actor Aneesh raised his voice against Vinayakan, stating, "We both belong to the same industry, but it is evident that I don't hold the same level of influence with the audience as you do. Similarly, it is also a fact that former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is held in much higher regard than you in the minds of the people." Aneesh conveyed this message in a Facebook note.

Bigg Boss season 5 winner and director Akhil Marar also expressed his criticism of Vinayakan. He urged, "Let's remember to be human beings. Let's be human beings. I have long disregarded Vinayakan. This serves as a reminder," as conveyed in his Facebook post.
