Devara Kerala Box Office First Weekend Collection: Jr. NTR's Action Drama Sees Impressive Start

"Devara: Part 1" Box Office Collection: "Devara: Part 1," the eagerly awaited Telugu action drama directed by Koratala Siva, premiered globally on September 27, 2024. Co-produced by Yuvasudha Arts and N. T. R. Arts, the film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in dual roles, alongside Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, making their Telugu cinema debut. The supporting cast boasts prominent talents such as Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, and Murali Sharma.

Initially announced in April 2021 as NTR30, marking Jr. NTR's 30th leading role, the film received its official title in May 2023. Principal photography commenced in April 2023 and wrapped up in August 2024, with filming taking place across Hyderabad, Shamshabad, Visakhapatnam, Goa, and Thailand. Though initially scheduled for an April 5, 2024 release, the premiere was delayed to allow for extensive post-production and VFX work.

According to film industry tracker AB George, Devara achieved an impressive gross collection of ₹1.40 crore in its opening weekend in Kerala. The film has already recovered a significant portion of its advance, marking a promising start at the box office.

Devara Premise

Set in the 1980s and 1990s, "Devara" tells the story of the fearless protagonist Devara, who embarks on a dangerous sea voyage to defend his coastal village while grappling with betrayal from his brother, Bhaira. The tension escalates as Devara strives to pass on his legacy to his hesitant son, Varada, crafting a compelling tale of family bonds and courage.

The film showcases an exceptional cast, with Jr. NTR portraying dual roles and Saif Ali Khan taking on the antagonist Bhaira. Janhvi Kapoor stars as Thangam, supported by a strong lineup of actors including Prakash Raj, Srikanth, and Shine Tom Chacko, all of whom are set to deliver gripping performances that enhance the film's appeal.

Produced by Sudhakar Mikkilineni, Kosaraju Harikrishna, and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, "Devara" also boasts an accomplished crew. R. Rathnavelu handles the cinematography, while A. Sreekar Prasad serves as editor. Anirudh Ravichander composes the soundtrack and background score, marking his fourth venture in Telugu cinema.

The music release campaign began with the first single, "Fear Song," on May 19, 2024, followed by "Chuttamalle" on August 5, "Daavudi" on September 4, and "Red Sea" in the trailer on September 12. The fifth track, "Ayudha Pooja," debuted on September 26.

With its grand production values and engaging narrative, "Devara" promises a visually stunning cinematic experience. Reports indicate that Netflix secured the film's digital rights for ₹155 crore (US$19 million), significantly expanding its reach and impact.
