Kerala State Film Awards And National Film Awards: Actor Mammootty is on the brink of a rare achievement. On Friday, August 16, both the Kerala State Film Awards and the National Film Awards will be announced. According to reports, Mammootty has reached the final round of the competition for the Best Actor award at both the national and state levels. If he wins the Best Actor award in both categories, he will achieve the rare feat of receiving both the national and state Best Actor awards on the same day.

The 70th National Film Awards will be announced tomorrow at 3:00 PM. The awards will be given for films released in 2022. Movies that were censored between January 1 and December 31, 2022, have been considered for the awards.

Mammootty Faces Tough Competition from Rishab Shetty?

Competing against Mammootty for the Best Actor award is Kannada star Rishab Shetty. Mammootty is competing with his performances in the films Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Rorschach. Notably, both of these films were produced by Mammootty's own production company, Mammootty Kampany. Mammootty's dual role in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, received widespread acclaim, and his portrayal of Luke Antony in Rorschach was also well-received in theatres.

Rishab Shetty's strong competition comes from his performance in the film Kantara. He not only acted in the film but also wrote the screenplay and directed it. Released on September 30, 2022, Kantara was warmly received by audiences and became a major success in Kerala as well. The film was also honoured by being screened at the United Nations office in Geneva, Switzerland. Reports suggest that the awards will be distributed in October.

The 54th Kerala State Film Awards will also be announced tomorrow. The 2023 awards will be declared at 12:00 PM by Minister of Cultural Affairs Saji Cheriyan at the PR Chamber in the Secretariat.
