Kerala State Film Awards: The Kerala State Film Awards for the previous year are set to be announced today at 12 p.m. by Minister Saji Cherian. The jury, led by renowned Hindi director and screenwriter Sudhir Mishra, has completed its deliberations, setting the stage for an exciting announcement.

In a competitive year marked by a strong presence from new-generation directors, several notable films have emerged in the final evaluation. The awards process has seen 160 films submitted, with many yet to be released. Reportedly, 84 of these films are by debutant directors, adding an element of unpredictability to the final outcomes.

Later today, the national film awards will also be announced. Mammootty is also in the running for the Best Actor award at the national level, competing against Kannada star Rishab Shetty. Mammootty's performances in "Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam" and "Rorschach" have positioned him as a strong contender for his fourth national award. However, he faces significant competition from Rishab Shetty, whose work in "Kantara" has garnered considerable acclaim.

With the final round featuring approximately 120 films selected by the regional jury, including major titles such as Tamil film "Gargi" starring Sai Pallavi, "Brahmastra" with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and "KGF: Chapter 2," the stakes are high.

This year's awards have also seen significant changes, including the removal of Indira Gandhi's name from the Best Debut Director award and Nargis Dutt's name from the Best National Integration Film award.
