Manichitrathazhu Re-release Box Office Collection: The 1993 Malayalam psychological horror classic, Manichitrathazhu, has made a triumphant return to theaters with its re-release on August 17th, now in stunning 4K resolution. Directed by Fazil and written by Madhu Muttam, the film was produced by Swargachitra Appachan and is inspired by a 19th-century tragedy associated with the Alummoottil Tharavad, a historic mansion in Muttom. Madhu Muttam, who penned the screenplay, is a member of the family whose history influenced the story. This re-release allows both longtime fans and new audiences to experience the film's chilling allure on the big screen once again.

According to film industry tracker Friday Matinee, the re-release of the classic Malayalam film "Manichitrathazhu" has performed impressively at the box office. In just 16 days, the film has garnered a total of ₹4.40 crores in collections. The breakdown of these earnings shows₹3 crores from Kerala,₹40 lakhs from the rest of India, and₹1 crore from overseas markets. This strong performance highlights the enduring popularity of the film, drawing audiences back to theaters even decades after its original release.
Manichitrathazhu Brief Synopsis
While on a holiday in their Kerala village, Nakulan and Ganga choose to stay at his ancestral mansion, disregarding warnings. Ganga's curiosity about a family legend tied to a tragic past sets off a series of disturbing events in the house. With the help of psychiatrist Dr. Sunny, they begin to uncover the truth behind these mysterious happenings.

Directed by Fazil, Manichitrathazhu debuted over three decades ago and has since become a landmark in Malayalam cinema. The film boasts an outstanding cast, with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Shobana in lead roles, supported by a talented ensemble that includes Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Vinaya Prasad, K.P.A.C.
