Manichitrathazhu Re-release Teaser: In a delightful surprise for Malayalam cinema enthusiasts, the makers of the all-time blockbuster Manichitrathazhu have unveiled a teaser for its upcoming re-release. The teaser, launched yesterday, showcases iconic dialogues and unforgettable scenes from the 1993 epic psychological horror that continues to resonate deeply with audiences. The high-quality visuals and nostalgic appeal of the teaser have ignited excitement among fans, setting the stage for the film's grand return to theatres.
Directed by Fazil, Manichitrathazhu was initially released over three decades ago and has since achieved legendary status in Malayalam cinema. The film stars a stellar cast including Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Shobana, alongside a notable ensemble of supporting actors such as Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Vinaya Prasad, K.P.A.C. Lalitha, Sridhar, K.B. Ganesh Kumar, Sudheesh, and Thilakan. The movie's gripping narrative and captivating performances made it an instant hit, and it went on to complete 300 days in theatres-a remarkable feat that cemented its place in cinematic history.
Manichitrathazhu Re-release Date
The re-release of Manichitrathazhu is set for August 17, and it will be presented in stunning 4K format worldwide. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for the new generation to experience the film on the big screen, reviving the magic of its original release for contemporary audiences.
The film's influence extends beyond its initial run, having been remade in four languages and developing a cult following over the years. Its critical acclaim is underscored by its National Film Award wins: Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Actress for Shobana's compelling portrayal of Ganga/Nagavalli.
Behind the scenes, Manichitrathazhu featured contributions from directors Sibi Malayil, Priyadarshan, and Siddique-Lal as second-unit directors, with Venu handling cinematography and Anandakuttan and Sunny Joseph serving as second-unit cinematographers. The editing was done by T.R. Shekar, and the film's memorable music was composed by M.G. Radhakrishnan (original songs) and Johnson (original score).
In related news, Mohanlal's film Devadoothan, directed by Sibi Malayil, is also poised for a re-release, scheduled for July 26.
