Manjummel Boys Producers' Claim Of Rs 22 Crore Production Cost Disputed: Police Submit Report To High Court

Kerala High Court Receives Police Report On Manjummel Boys Producers: In a recent development that has gripped the entertainment world, the Kerala High Court has been presented with an investigation report implicating the producers of the acclaimed film "Manjummel Boys" in a case of suspected financial fraud. The report, submitted by the police, sheds light on concerning allegations surrounding the production of the hit movie.
According to the findings disclosed in the report, producers Shawn Antony, Soubin Shahir, and Babu Shahir find themselves at the centre of the controversy. The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by Siraj, a resident of Aroor, who claims to have invested a substantial sum of 7 crore rupees into the film's production.
Alleged Deceptions And Financial Discrepancies By Manjummel Boys Producers
The crux of the accusations revolves around purported misrepresentations made by the producers to secure investments. Allegedly, the producers misled Siraj into believing that the first shooting schedule had been completed when, in reality, it had not commenced. Furthermore, discrepancies have surfaced regarding the actual cost of the film, with the report challenging the producers' claim of 22 crores and stating the true cost to be significantly lower at Rs 18.65 crores.
As per the report, despite the substantial investment made by Siraj, the Parava Film Company has reportedly failed to provide any returns on the funds received. This failure to fulfil financial obligations has prompted legal action, with the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court stepping in to address the matter. The court's intervention followed a petition from Siraj, who alleged that promises of profit sharing were unfulfilled, leaving Siraj in the lurch.
The situation escalated further when the police filed charges against the producers, including criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and forgery. However, legal proceedings hit a temporary roadblock when Babu Shahir sought recourse through the High Court, resulting in a stay on the fraud case proceedings for a month.
Manjummel Boys, which was released on February 22, 2024, has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film globally. Inspired by real events, "Manjummel Boys" recounts the journey of a group of youngsters from Manjummel to Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu. The film's success extended beyond Kerala, resonating strongly with audiences in Tamil Nadu. Renowned figures such as Kamal Haasan, Udhayanidhi Stalin, and numerous other celebrities have publicly commended the film for its compelling narrative and execution.
