Immanuel, directed by Lal Jose has Mammootty play the title role with good support from Fahad Fazal who plays the role of Jeevan (Mammootty's boss). Lal Jose has once again proved his credential as a director and makes sure that the script does not falter. His previous films Diamond Necklace and Ayalum Njanum Thammil have already made a place for itself in the hearts of cinema-goers. Superstar Mammootty makes a simple entry and that gives the film a very 'authentic' touch. The first half is especially very entertaining since the chemistry between Mammootty and Fahad is brilliant. Cinematography by Pradeep Nair, editing by Ranjan Abraham and art-direction by Mohandas add a special touch to the flow of the film Immanuel. Dialogues too are catchy and goes well with the plot. Second half slows down a bit, but picks up pace towards the end. Story The film follows the character of Immanuel (Mammootty) who works in a book publishing firm. When the company is closed down due to unexpected reasons, Immanuel and his family find it difficult to make both ends meet. The hardships and harsh realities he faces forces him to see himself and his life in a new perspective that is often outside of his personal comfort zone. Jeevan (Fahad Fazil) heads a customer care centre in Cochin. He is smart, vivacious and handles his team and customers with perfect ease. Into this setup enters Immanuel who is desperate to support his family (wife played by Reenu Mathews and a son). What happens next? How does Immanuel face the problems that come his way? Watch Immanuel to know more. Performances Mammootty has once again proved his mettle as an actor and does exactly what is required for his character. He does not go overboard. Fahad Fazil stands out and is brilliant. Mukesh, Reenu, Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar have all done a fantastic job. Verdict Immanuel is worth watching this weekend and seems to have all ingredients that might make it a superhit.
