Ranjith, the writer-director has managed to begin the film on a promising note. The movie has maintained a good pace throughout the first half, with some light comical moments and engaging narration. But things take a different turn in the strictly average second half, in which story travels towards a totally different direction.
The climax portion also ends up as an average affair. It is disappointing that Ranjith couldn't make use of his lead actor Mammootty and the promising storyline to the fullest, as the writer-director deviates to needless subplots in the second half.
If you are expecting a signature classic film from the Mammootty-Ranjith duo, Puthan Panam will disappoint you. It is a one-time watch flick, which might impress you if watched without any prejudices.
