G Devarajan dead

Veteran music composer G Devarajan died early Tuesday morning of massive cardiac arrest at his Chennai residence. He was getting treated in a private hospital in the city for about a week. His body will be cremated tomorrow in Thiruvananthapuram with state honors.

Devarajan had composed music for more than 350 films in his career. He shifted to composing music for films in 1950's. Some of his best compositions include 'Shakuntala', 'Swami Ayyappa', 'Nadhi' and 'Chembaruthi'. KJ Yesudas, Vayalar Rama Varma and Devarajan had together come up with some of the most unforgettable songs in the history of Malayalam film industry. He is survived by his wife and two children
