Malayalam films getting used to item numbers

Not many are aware of it but many leading heroines in Malayalam are keen on appearing in item numbers. We aren't talking about item numbers in other language films. Malayalam film industry recognizes 'item number' as an 'special song appearance'. After completing her box office hit Chandramukhi, Nayantara made an appearance in Vijay's Sivakasi. Even when she was busy establishing herself as one of the leading heroines in Malayalam, Bhavana made an item number appearance in director Joshi's Runway.

Jyothirmayi goes Tamil once in a while and stars in a special song sequence every now and then. Nayantara was brought in again to Malayalam movies for an item number in director Joshi's Janmam. Due to some controversies, she walked out. The director was very particular about having a leading heroine in the role. They brought Anniyan fame Sadha in. Meghna Naidu did an item number in Suresh Gopi's Bada Dost. In his new film, Suresh Gopi has some very colorful song sequences. One features the film's heroines Meena and Karthika. The other one has Suja and Jennifer.
