Kanika in Pazhassi Raja

Malayalam film industry is thronged with talented actors but the makers of superstar Mammootty's much-talked-about film Pazhassi Raja have chosen a Tamil actress for a vital role. Yes, Tamil actress Kanika has been signed to play the lead role opposite superstar Mammootty for this historical project.

The pooja of this film was performed last month at Prasad Studios in Chennai in the presence of many leading Tamil and Malayalam film personalities. Sarath Kumar, one of the leading heroes in Tamil also plays a prominent role in it. Padmapriya also plays a crucial role in the film but hers is not the lead. Director Hariharan has looking for a new face to play the princess of Pazhassi Raja and has even considered an actress from Hollywood. However, the search has ended in Kanika. The actress is said to have given bulk dates for the film, as she has not much work in Kollywood.

Pazhassi Raja is the first mega-budgeted historical film in Malayalam. It's story is written by Veteran M.T.Vasudevan Nair and Hariharan is going to direct it. Venu is handling the camera.
