Mathrubhumi award for Malayalam veterans

Mammootty and Padmapriya shared the honors for the best actors for the year 2006, announced by Mathrubhumi on Saturday. He was selected for this award for his extraordinary performance in Palunku. Padmapriya got this award for her excellent role in Vadakkumnathan. Mohanlal and Major Ravi will get special awards for their work in Rasathanthram and Keerthi Chakra, respectively.

In a press release released by the Mathrubhumi-PSS Limited regarding the filmy awards for the year 2006, the company announced the list of award winners.

Best Film: Classmates (Lal Jose)

Best Director: Sathyan Anthikkad (Rasathanthiram)

Best Supporting Actor: Jagathy Srikumar (Palunku)

Best supporting actress: Muthu Mani (Rasathanthram)

Best Musician: Johnson (Photographer)

Best scripts: Gireesh Puthenchery (Vadakkumnathan)

Best Lyrics: Vayalar Sharath (Classmates)

Best playback singers: Vineeth Sreenivasan, Manjari (Many films)

The awards will be distributed in the second week of October at Kochi.
