Mammokka in Rickshakkaran remake

Malayalam superstar Mammotty will attempt fitting in the shoes of Tamil acting legend Maruthur Gopala Ramachandran other wise known as MGR. MGR donned the role of a rickshawwalla for which he won a national award. The film Rickshakkaran, which was his own production, will be remade now with Mammotty playing the lead role. The film will be directed by Padmakumar and will retain the name of the orignal film – Rickshakkaran.

The film was initially titled Theeppetti Chandiran but was later changed to Rickshakkaran. The story of the film is that of an auto rickshaw driver who overcomes his hurting past and sorrow and gains happiness and becomes a hero. The film"s shooting was postponed a couple of times. The filmmakers bore flak for the title that they chose for the film. They then changed the films title. TA Razaak has written the film"s script. Howly Puttur will produce the film.
