Ore Kadal bags best film award

Ore Kadal starring Mammootty and Meera Jasmine in the lead, has been judged the best film at the Dubai Annual Malayalam Movie Awards (AMMA). Mammootty and Meera Jasmine have been chosen for the best actor and best actress award. Veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan will be presented with the best director award and Iqbal Kuttipuram will be given the award for best screenplay.

Lalu Alex and Ramya Krishnan were chosen for the best supporting actors, Sooraj Venjaramoodu for best comic star and Saikumar for best villain. In the music department, Yesudas and Sujatha were adjudged the best singers, Ouseppachan was chosen for best music and Anil Panarchooran for best lyricist.

Other awards include best cinematography for Azhagappan, popular film for Arabhikatha and best costumes for S.B. Satheesan. The awards, initiated by UAE postal departments, were announced on Monday and will be presented on December 8th, 2007 in a ceremony to be held at Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai.
