Swaralaya, an organization established with the aim of promoting music and Kairali TV Channel, honours music artists every year in recognition for their outstanding performance in Indian film music by giving them awards. This year, the Swaralaya Kairali Jesudas awards by Swaralaya have been announced.

The talented winners are music maestro A.R. Rahman will be honoured with the Swaralaya-Kairali-Jesudas Award for 2007 and veteran music director K. Raghavan will be honoured for his contribution to Malayalam film music. Rahman's prize comprises prize money of one lakh, a citation and a statue designed by Kanayi Kunhiraman; Raghavan's prize is prize money of Rs.75,000, a statue and a citation.

The jury responsible for choosing the award-winners includes the Minister for Cultural Affairs M.A. Baby, playback singers K.P. Udayabhanu and B. Arundhathi, lyricist Poovachal Khader and litterateur Rosemary.
