Saira honored in Zimbabwe

Navya Nair won the best actress award for her role of a journalist it the Malayalam film Saira in the International Film Festival held at Russia. And now Nedumudi Venu won the best actor award for the same film in the Zimbabwe International Film Festival. The Zimbabwe International Film Festival, held annually since 1998, runs for ten days, showcasing several feature films, documentary films and short films.

Saira by director Biju Kumar was the only Indian entry to the film festival. The movie revolves around the story of a girl named Saira, who is the daughter of a well-known ghazal singer Ustad Ali Hussain (played by Nedumudi Venu).

This is not the first international award for Nedumudi Venu. He has earlier won a best actor award for his role in Maargam in the Havana International Film Festival.
