After his short film, Amrithavarshini: A Drop of Warmth, which won jury mention at the Nokia mobile fest held in Mumbai, Nithin Ramakrishnan, an 18-year-old law student of Thrissur Law College and one of the youngest film makers in Kerala, is making his debut into Malayalam film industry with a commercial entertainer, Apoorva.

Nithin could complete the film in approximately six months, having started in April. Now he is very confident that the film will be a box-office success. "I can assure you that Apoorva will not be yet another run-of-the-mill campus story. I have tried to narrate it in the style of a short story," he said.

Made on a one crore budget, Apoorva, meaning rare, is an attempt to present the love and social commitment among students. The film is likely to be released in Kerala most probably on September 12, the day of the harvest festival Onam. Vidhyasdharan Master is the music director; this film is produced under the banner of Gowry creations. Cinematography is by Jithu. The lead roles are played by Tamil actor Sanjeev and Soundarya, a former Miss Kerala. Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani also plays a key role as a police officer.

Another interesting thing about the movie is that Tamil actor Senthil, who normally appears with Goundamani as a comedy team in many Tamil films, is making a comeback to Malayalam film industry after a long gap. Senthil made his debut in Malayalam film industry through a movie directed by Sasikumar in the late seventies! Senthil also had an important role in Sibi Malayil's Aayirathil Oruvan in 2001, which never got released.
