Ayilya as Niveda in Tamil to try her luck

With just one film released and a couple of others in line, Malayalam actress Ayilya seemed a star unlikely to move into Tamil film in. But she did. She is currently shooting for her Tamil movie Nadodi directed by Samuthira Kani who was the villain in Subramaniapuram.

Ayilya debuted with Positive opposite Jayasurya. Although the film failed to invoke a positive response, Ayilya managed to get a couple of smaller budget movies. She has changed her name to Niveda and moved to Kollywood as soon as shw got an attractive offer. The shooting of Nadodi, which describes the life and relationship of four friends, is on in Rajapalayam.

There was a time when Kerala had to import actresses from outside, now it enjoys the fame of being the land of beauties with Mallu girls like Asin reaching Bollywood. With Gopika and Karthika bowing out of the race, actresses like Ayilya stands to win and hopefully more girls will follow.
