Bharathan Award for Bharath Gopi

The late Malayalam actor Bharath Gopi, veteran actor who was awarded with the National award for his sterling performance in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's classic Kodiyettam, will be posthumously awarded the Bharathan Award 2008 for his contribution in the field of acting in films as well as drama, a release from Bharathan Foundation said here on Tuesday.

Renowned South Indian film director Bharati Raja has also been chosen for the Bharathan Award 2007 for his contribution to the film industry.

The awards, instituted for the memory of Bharathan, one of the most prolific film directors of Malayalam cinema, will be presented on his tenth death anniversary, July 30, at Thrissur Regional Theatre.
