Dilip cannot lay his hands off a Kattila

After Meesa Madhavan, Dilip appears in the role of a thief in Crazy Rascals. The peculiarity of thief Gopalan (Dilip) is that he robs the Kattila [door jamb] of houses which are under construction. So he earns the nickname Kattila Gopalan. Many times people try to trap Gopalan. But another thief Harishchandran gets caught instead. Although Gopalan is a thief, people love him and accept his friendship.

He comes to the city in search of a job. Without knowing any other job, he continues with his theft in the city where he meets Laxmanan, who is also a thief. They become friends.

Without finding any progress in their 'job', they plan how to acquire more money more 'efficiently'. Theydecide to kidnap a millionaire and to demand ransom. They kidnap a millionaire's sister, who reveals her real life story to Gopalan and Laxmanan. This revelation brings about a turning point in their lives.

Director Deepu brings in many humorous moments in this film. Laxmanan's role is handled by Salim Kumar and Harichandran's role, by Harisree Ashokan. Manoj K. Jayan dons the role of Millionaire Babu Joseph. The heroine is Radha Varma. Jagathy handles the role of Lavang Vasu, a well-experienced thief. Even Gopalan visits him to seek advice. Camera is handled by G. Kannan. Lyrics are by Gireesh Puthenchery and Anil Panachooran. Rahul Raj has created the music. The shooting locations are Kochi, Pollachi and Pondichery.
