Kanika in Pazhassi Raja

Actress Kanika, made her foray into filmdom during her under-graduation and became a full-time actress after completing her engineering at BITS Pilani. The former Miss Chennai has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam movies. She made her entry into Malayalam cine world with the campus-based flick, Ennitum.

She is now playing the role of a queen named Kaitheri Makkom in the magnum opus, Pazhassi Raja, starring Mammootty in the lead. Director Hariharan took some time to give her the role. Reportedly, she showed him the CD of her Tamil film, Varalaru, in which she dresses like a queen in a song sequence to convince him for her suitability for the role. Padmapriya and Linda Arseino play the other female leads in the film scripted by veteran writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair.
