The
Federation
of
Malayalam
Cine
Technicians
Association
(MACTA)
has
filed
a
complaint
with
the
Ernakulam
chief
judicial
magistrate
alleging
that
Film
Employees
Federation
of
Kerala
(FEFKA),
a
breakaway
faction
of
technicians
in
the
Malayalam
film
industry,
used
the
name
of
Chennai-based
Indian
Film
Employees
Confederation
(IFEC)
to
collect
money
from
its
members.
FEFKA
was
formed
at
a
general
body
meeting
held
at
the
YMCA
Hall
in
Kochi
on
Monday.
It
has
chosen
writer
B.
Unnikrishnan
as
the
first
president,
director
Sibi
Malayil
as
the
general
secretary
and
director
Jose
Thomas
as
treasurer.
Velayudhan
Keezhillam,
P.V.
Sankar,
Vijaya
Kumar,
Jaffer
Kanjirappally
were
elected
as
vice
presidents.
Reacting
to
the
allegations
against
FEFKA,
treasurer
Jose
Thomas
explained
that
he
was
not
at
all
aware
of
any
funds
collection
drive
undertaken
by
the
federation.
However,
the
court
has
instructed
Tripunithura
Hill
Palace
Police
to
register
a
case
against
FEFKA
on
the
charge
of
cheating.
The
major
allegation
is
that
FEFKA
is
collecting
membership
and
monthly
fees
from
members
of
MACTA.
FEFKA,
which
was
formed
after
a
dispute
in
director
Vinayan
led
MACTA,
is
recognized
by
the
Association
of
Malayalam
Movie
Artistes
(AMMA).
It
has
veteran
directors
like
Joshy,
I.V.
Sasi,
Siddique,
Lal
as
its
members.
