Manoj Night Shyamalan, the renowned Hollywood film director whose roots can be traced back to Kerala, is ready with his next venture produced at a cost of 57 million dollars. Named The Happening, it will be released this June. This sci-fi thriller is produced by UTV Motion Pictures and 20th Century Fox. The Happening will make its world-wide release on June 13th.

Shyamalan, addressing the media in Mumbai, said that the sci-fi movie was not planned, it just happened and is unlike his favourite genre of horror. He added that good scripts and story-telling are the key to success in Hollywood.

Shyamalan was born in Mahe, Kerala, in 1970. His parents moved to the US soon after his birth and Shyamalan is living there ever since. He rose to fame through his film Sixth Sense and continued his success with Signs. But his next ventures The village and Lady in the Water failed to impress critics and the public alike.
