Akashgopuram ready for release

K.P. Kumaran, one of the finest directors of the Malayalam film industry, is ready with his new film, Akashgopuram. Set against the background of suburban London, the film is an adaptation of renowned Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's play 'The Master Builder'.

Medient Corp. is producing the film starring Mohanlal as an architect Halvard Solness renamed as Albert Samson in this film. Others in the cast include Shwetha Menon, Geethu Mohandas, Sreenivasan, Bharat Gopi and Manoj K. Jayan.

K.P. Kumaran has given us several nationally and internationally-recognized films like Athithi (1974), Rugmini (1988), and Thotram (2000). His documentary, The Rock won the gold medal at the Asia Film Festival; Rugmini won the National Award for Best Film in Malayalam in 1988. He also directed Neram Pularumbol, starring Mohanlal and Mammootty in the lead.
