Kurukshetra gets a record opening

Superstar Mohanlal's latest, Kurukshetra, directed by Major Ravi, has fetched an opening record collection of 2.25 crore within three days of its release. The film, which opened in a record number of centres (114 theatres) across the State, also grossed 90 lakhs on the very first day itself, breaking the record of Mammootty's Vishu release Annan Thampi, directed by Anwar Rasheed.

Kurukshetra, Major Ravi"s biggest movie till date, was completed with a whopping budget of eight crores. Produced by Santhosh Damodaran under the Damor Films banner, Kurukshetra is based on the real story of the Kargil war between India and Pakistan in 1999.

The film has Mohanlal as Colonel Mahadevan, who is determined to reclaim the land grabbed by Pakistani soldiers in the Kargil valley. Siddique, Biju Menon, Cochin Haneefa and Sooraj Venjaranmoodu are also in the star cast.
