Nivedyam fame Vinu Mohan's latest Sultan, a campus love story based on a plot by Vinod Guruvayoor and Jayan Sivapuram, was released on Friday (December 5) in nearly 31 centres across Kerala.

Directed by Sriprakash, Sultan has two fresh faces, Varada and Sarayu as heroines. It also features Lalu Alex, Vijayaraghavan, Shammy Thilakan, Geetha, Salimkumar, Shari, Kaviyoor Ponnama and Geetha in prominent roles. Camera is by P. Sukumar and editing by Ranjan Abraham. Lyrics, penned by Kaithapram and Lohidadas, are set to music by M. Jayachandran.

Produced by Gopi Manasseri under the banner of Abhirami Krishna Productions, Sultan revolves around Sivarajan (Vinu Mohan), a medical student who is already engaged to Nishitha, a junior student in the same campus. Sivarajan, only son of a teacher, comes from a rural background, while Nishitha is an affluent modern city girl, daughter of a doctor couple.

With the knowledge and blessings of their parents, they have been maintaining a steady relationship for many years. Sivarajan also has got a gang of friends (Naufal, Vivek, Sunny and Praveen) known in the campus circuit as the five men army.

With the entrance of an abusive boy who often annoys Nishitha, the film takes an interesting turn. Sivarajan becomes quite disturbed and falls into some kind of curious problems frequently because of this boy and due to his own pet name 'Sultan'. How he finds the root causes of all his troubles and how he overcomes them forms the rest of the plot.
