Padmapriya tonsures her head

When it comes to portraying a serious character with a shaved head on screen, it's hard to fake. A few actress actresses like Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das had shaved their head for the roles in their films but many would not do so.

Now, it is the turn of actress Padmapriya. She will play a Buddhist monk in the upcoming Mammootty film Kutty Shranku, directed by Shaji N. Karun, tonsuring her head for the role. It is heard that the actress has been working seriously on understanding her character and is reading a lot of Buddhist books to get a firm hold of the character she is to play.

Sources said that numerous actresses were considered for the role, but all of them had problems with the tonsuring part. Maybe Padmapriya, who seems to be concentrating in Malayalam films, will launch a flagging career in Malayalam with her bold decision to have her head shaved on screen.
