Pazhassi Raja still under the veil

By Super Admin

It has been more than a year since the shooting of Hariharan's magnum opus Pazhassi Raja began shooting and it is still continuing. The film is about the first organized revolt against the British rule in India under the leadership of Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja of the Padinjare Kovilakom.

The film's plot is written by the one of the most accomplished film writers in Malayalam, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, who is famous for reinterpreting history. 18 years ago, Mammootty, Harihan and M.T. Vasudevan Nair teamed up for making Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, which brought Mammootty his first Bharath award. Hariharan says that the challenge this time is greater, since he is making a film with an international cast.

There are three heoines: Padmapriya, Kanika and Linda Arsenio. Suman, who played the villain in Sivaji, will play the villain Pazhaiveetan Chandu; Tamil actor Sarath Kumar makes his debut in Malayalam as Edachena Kunkan, the chief lieutenant to Pazhassi Raja. Thilakan, Manoj K. Jayan, Peter Handley Evans, Harry Key and Jagathi Sreekumar also play pivotal roles in the film.
