Hollywood
is
actually
crazy
about
war
movies!
Many
wars,
such
as
Vietnam,
have
produced
hugely
popular
films
such
as
The
Deer
Hunter,
Apocalypse
Now,
Coming
Home,
Platoon,
Born
On
The
Fourth
Of
July,
all
of
them
Oscar
winners.
Hollywood
filmmakers
use
modern
technology
to
produce
war
sequences
making
audiences
feel
they
are
actually
surrounded
by
machine
guns,
tanks,
airplanes,
submarines
and
chemical
weapons.
Here
in
India,
no
one
has
yet
dared
to
make
a
war
movie
like
in
Hollywood.
But
reports
say
that
Malayalam
director
Major
Ravi's
Kurukshetra,
starring
Mohanlal
in
the
lead,
will
feature
three
war
sequences,
constituting
one-third
of
the
movie!
Wow!
The
movie,
based
on
the
real
story
of
the
Kargil
war
between
India
and
Pakistan
that
took
place
between
May
and
July
1999
in
Kashmir,
will
also
feature
real
war
practice
sessions
of
the
Indian
Army.
This
is
for
the
first
time
a
Malayalam
movie
is
getting
permission
to
shoot
the
actual
practice
sessions
of
the
Indian
Army.
The
movie
will
be
completed
in
a
single
schedule
of
35
days
in
the
original
locales.
Mohanlal
will
appear
as
Colonel
Mahadevan,
who
is
all
determined
to
get
back
the
land
grabbed
by
Pakistani
soldiers
in
the
Kargil
valley.
Kannada
star
Taniya
Singh
is
the
heroine.
Kurukshetra,
produced
by
Damor
Films
with
a
budget
of
seven
crores,
is
Major
Ravi's
third
venture
after
the
immensely
successful
Keerthi
Chakra
and
critically
acclaimed
Mission
90
Days.
