Aayirathil Oruvan finally releases after 8 years

Would you believe that a film is being released long eight years after it was completed? Believe it or not, it's exactly what happened to Kalabhavan Mani starrer Aayirathil Oruvan, a family entertainer directed by Sibi Malayil and written by T.A. Razak.

Aayirathil Oruvan, made in 2001, is now all set for release on February 20 all over Kerala! Most interestingly, though the film has in cold storage for a long time, it bagged a Kerala State Award for Best Story in 2002.

In Aayirathil Oruvan, Kalabhavan Mani plays the role of a village ration shop owner, who is struggling to repay a loan borrowed for his sister's marriage from a money lender, who charges usurious interest. Produced by veteran producer Siyad Kokker, Aayirathil Oruvan is said to be a sentimental feel-good family entertainer with superb performances by Kalabavan Mani and heroine Sujatha.

Incidentally, Sujatha, one of the leading TV actresses in Tamil today (seen in mega serial Thulasi, aired by Kalainger TV at 10.00 p.m.), recently made a public appearance through Idea Star Singer 2008, a reality show, being aired by Asianet TV. Aayirathil Oruvan also has Janardanan, Salim Kumar, K.P.A.C. Lalitha and Tamil comedian Senthil in the cast.
