J C Daniel Award for Achani Ravi

K.Ravindranathan Nair also known as Achani Ravi or General Pictures Ravi has been selected for the J.C.Daniel Award for the year 2008. The Jury comprising of K.G.George, K.R.Mohanan and KPAC Lalitha and presided over by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has chosen him for making movies without being bothered about its marketing possibilities.

M.A.Baby, Minister for Cultural Affairs made the announcement on Friday and also highlighted that Ravindranathan's movies always carry a social and artistic value irrespective of the genre. Considering his contribution to Malayalam cinema in elevating it to national and international standards, the Jury has strongly recommended his name. The award consists of Rs one lakh, a specially-designed plaque and a citation.
