Unlike other states, Kerala is never known to have favoured stars turning politicians. However, the state also sees a few stars contesting during every election.
This year, it is heard that the talented directors Kamal and Balachandra Menon have been offered tickets to contest in the Parliamentary elections to be held in April. Kamal was offered the controversial Ponnani seat, but is heard to have declined the offer.
Balachandra Menon has been offered the Thiruvananthapuram seat by the BJP and it is almost certain that he will contest from there.
The previous election saw actor Murali and director Lenin Rajendran contesting in the CPI tickets but they did not get elected.
