They are the ever abiding daughters, ideal wives and benevolent mothers exemplifying virtue personified onscreen. But when the real world confronts the reel world, everything goes for a toss. So be it, if that is the order of the day. Therefore when one of the popular actresses Devi Ajith was arrested on Tuesday by the Peroorkada Police of Thiruvananthapuram district for drunken driving, the audiences were the least moved.
Devi Ajith who has essayed several roles on the small screen, shot to fame with her hot avataar in the Malayalam movie Ivar in 2003, which had Jayaram in the lead role. Hailing from Vattiyoorkkavu in Thiruvananthapuram, Devi was caught by the police when on Tuesday, the actress under the influence of booze, lost control of her Alto car and ran into an electric post. When ensued later was the real drama, when the actress provided free entertainment to the onlookers and ushered a string of abuses and vulgar language.
When the law makers arrived at the scene of action, they were also given a test dose of her live and happening drama. Little did she realize the intensity, till she was put behind the bars. Medical examination has revealed that she was completely drunk. Devi was later released on bail.
That actresses have created ruckus with their new found soul mate 'booze' is no longer a news, but Kerala which is slowly awakening to the fast developments will need time to come to terms with them. However with the passage of time, Devi Ajith and Sangeetha Mohan will be hardly remembered when they relegate to the level of just another trifling names.
