A doctor is a man of few words who rarely brings a smile across his face and is strict to the core. Well, these are the popular misconceptions that we nurture about the image of a doctor in our mind. Dr Ruben Issac, who joins a prestigious Mental Hospital in the city has a different treatment pattern. He believes in an emotional and sensible yet sensitive approach towards the ailing patients.
Rakhi Devadas, the M D of this hospital wants to set up a military regime in the hospital as against Ruben's idea of a second home. Stubborn to the core, she cannot accept his plans which are too crazy for her. Rakhi opposes his ideas and asks why they need such a major infrastructure, if all they need is love and sympathy to treat the patients.
Doctor Patient harbouring on a light vein narrates Ruben's love treatment and the management's opposition and the humourous circumstances that ensue as a consequence of this. Doctor Patient directed by Viswanathan, under the banner of A R Films International, has Jayasurya in the role of Ruben Issac and Radha Varma as Rakhi Devadas.
Others in the cast are Mukesh, Manianpillai Raju, Nedumudi Venu, Sooraj Venjaramoodu and so on. Though the first half of the movie evocates memories of Thalavattom by Priyadarshan, the second part steers clear off any comparison.
