Film labourers get some respite

After a series of long discussions on daily wages for the last one month between the Film Producers' Association and Film Technicians' Association, the Kerala Film Producers' Association president G. Suresh Kumar, general secretary Sabu Cherian, Film Employees' Federation of Kerala president Sibi Malayil and its general secretary B. Unni Krishnan have signed a new contract to increase the wages for labourers in the film industry by 50%.

According to the new wages scheme, a labourer in an outdoor unit will get Rs. 300 per day. The wages of drivers has been increased to Rs. 400 and that of production assistants to Rs. 500 per day. The new contract will come into effect from August 1.
